It has a special electrical resistance and can be successfully applied to installations subject to temperature changes from -45° to +85°.
The specific properties of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene concern the exceptionally high notched impact strength values, even at low temperatures indicating the material’s high robustness and tolerance to surface damage.
These qualities are directly acquired by the ABS fittings. An energy-efficient solution for industrial applications in the low-temperature range such as refrigerating and cooling systems.
Another important feature is the possibility of being heated repeatedly which makes it one of the best plastics for recycling.
The net advantage compared to thermosetting plastics, which when heated undergo a chemical change that cannot be reversed.
Together with PVC it is a very used material in injection molding and is resistant to many solvents and other aggressive agents.
ABS is the acronym for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
ABS was patented in 1948 and introduced to commercial markets in 1954.
Thanks to its properties the main areas of application of this plastic material are water treatment, the use in the food industry, the use for piping in the nautical sector, refrigeration, and really widespread adoption in civil plant engineering.
This plastic material is mainly chosen for the following ideal characteristics:
The ABS ball valves and fittings are resistant to the greatest majority of the acid and aggressive agents, to mineral oils and fatty substances, in addition to water and watery saline solutions.
In particular, COMER S.p.A. products molded in this material, are available in the British Standard series and Metric Standard series.
